Community Coordinator - Part-Time/Contractor

Location: San Francisco/Bay Area
Duration: September 1 - December 15 (with possibility of extension and/or permanent position)
Hours: 8-16 hours/week
Compensation: $24/hour

You are comfortable speaking in front of a group of volunteers, are organized, and able to work effectively remotely.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly organized, people-oriented Community Coordinator (Contractor) to support our volunteer programs, donor engagement, and supply distribution efforts during a critical end-of-year period. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a community-facing position, is comfortable working both independently and collaboratively, and is passionate about making a tangible impact.

Key Responsibilities

Volunteer Coordination & Engagement

  • Coordinate, schedule, and lead volunteer groups in person and virtually

  • Create a welcoming, organized, and meaningful volunteer experience

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with volunteers

Donor & Community Relations

  • Receive and process in-kind donations

  • Engage with donors in a professional and appreciative manner

  • Support relationship-building efforts to sustain long-term partnerships

Operations & Logistics

  • Manage organization and inventory of a storage unit

  • Lift and move supplies (up to 40 lbs regularly)

  • Deliver hygiene supplies to community partners

Administrative Support

  • Write and send thank-you notes to donors and volunteers

  • Maintain and update internal databases

  • Manage email communications in a timely and professional manner

Technical & Program Support

  • Review and approve organizations for the Hygiene Locator platform

  • Utilize basic database systems and digital tools effectively

Optional / Bonus Contributions

  • Assist with maintaining or updating social media pages

Qualifications

Required

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs comfortably

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Comfortable leading groups and speaking with diverse audiences

  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple responsibilities

  • Ability to work effectively in a remote environment

  • Basic computer and database proficiency

Preferred

  • Experience in volunteer coordination or nonprofit work

  • Experience working with donors or community engagement

  • Familiarity with social media management

  • Valid driver’s license (access to a car preferred)

  • Flexible schedule week to week

Schedule

  • 8-16 hours per week

  • Set weekdays (to be agreed upon with contractor)

  • Days of the week may change depending upon volunteer groups, flexibility is helpful
