Janet has been a dedicated advocate, volunteer, and advisory board member of Simply the Basics, supporting our mission to improve health, stability, and wellness through access to hygiene. Now, she’s inviting you, her community, to join her in making an impact by helping raise funds to purchase the essential hygiene needs individuals and families in the Bay Area need most.

Nearly 1 in 4 families experience hygiene insecurity, which is the lack of access to basic items like soap, shampoo, toothpaste, and menstrual products. These essentials are often overlooked, yet they are critical to health, confidence, and daily life. By providing tailored hygiene distributions to families with limited income and individuals experiencing homelessness, we help improve health outcomes, restore stability and confidence, and save nonprofit partners valuable time and resources.

At Simply the Basics, we believe hygiene is not one-size-fits-all. We prioritize choice, variety, and individual health needs, providing everything from children’s toothpaste to sensitive options for elders, shampoos for all hair types, and soaps and lotions for a wide range of skin sensitivities. Every distribution is thoughtfully assembled based on what our community needs most.

Your monetary donation is 100% tax-deductible and directly supports the purchase of requested hygiene items. Funds raised through this page will help collect and distribute essential everyday care items to communities across the Bay Area and beyond.
