Simply the Basics provides hygiene as preventative healthcare, recognizing hygiene access as essential to public health, dignity, and community stability. People experiencing homelessness face significantly higher rates of skin disease, infection, heart disease, chronic respiratory illness, seizures, mobility limitations, foot pain, and dental decay due to lack of access to basic hygiene care.
These preventable health conditions contribute to an eightfold increase in mortality risk among people experiencing homelessness.
