A Helping Hand From Some Special Volunteers

Simply the Basics received a helping hand from some special volunteers – the senior residents who live next door!

Two of our incredible recurring volunteers live in the same complex that generously provides Simply the Basics storage and a volunteer space. After volunteering with Simply the Basics for the past year, an incredible volunteer, Carol, had the fantastic idea to host a Hygiene Kit Assembly Activity at the housing complex for all the neighbors to join! Carol did a phenomenal job creating and passing our flyers, spreading awareness of our programs, and recruited a whole group of residents who generously offered their time and energy to assemble hygiene kits for those in need, and we couldn’t be more grateful for their support.

It’s heartwarming to see members of our community come together to make a difference. Their enthusiasm and dedication to this cause is truly inspiring, and we hope that their actions will encourage others to get involved as well!

I love the mission of Simply the Basics. While the housing situation is too overwhelming for me to face, SB provides the perfect opportunity to feel I’m making a difference in someone’s life. And the volunteer experience is awesome. Welcoming and warm (and simple!) we join Brittany in assembling essential hygiene and menstrual kits to give to people in need. It makes me feel so good. Thank you Brittany and SB for helping me help others. - Carol, Resident of MLT

Thanks to the compassion of these amazing individuals, as well as the generosity of MLT, we’ve been able to provide hygiene kits to countless people who are struggling to make ends meet. Their efforts have not gone unnoticed, and we’re proud to call them our partners in this important work.

We hope that their kindness and generosity will inspire others to get involved and help make a difference in their own communities. Let’s continue to work together to ensure that everyone has access to the basic necessities of life. Thank you to our volunteers – you truly are making a difference!
