The Women's Building : Nonprofit Receiving Partner Highlight

Simply the Basics has been Partnered with “The Women’s Building” for over 7 years, starting with an event we hosted in their facilities called the “Women’s Action Planning Forum” - a collective think tank following the very first Women’s March in 2016 to brainstorm ways we as a community can continue the energy and efforts that came from the March throughout the year.

Since then, we have provided quarterly hygiene supplies for their clients, hosted “Public Hygiene Markets”, and attended a myriad of community events such as their “Menstrual Health Day” and more!

In 2021, we were able to arrange the donation of a car to one of their clients in need so that she could continue to work and care for her family!

What is your organization’s Mission?

Tell us about your organization's programs

We provide a wide-range of accessible programs and resources that include job search, tech tutoring, legal clinics, and a food pantry.

Who are your typical clients?

Low-Income, monolingual Spanish speaking women and their families

What is the impact when your clients have ready access to hygiene?

Our clients struggle for access to menstrual health items. Having access to hygiene items and menstrual products has made a huge impact on the lives of the women serve as they can use funds for other necessities they have.

What has it been like for clients since you began partnering with Simply the Basics?

It has alleviated an extra stress of spending money for menstrual items or basic hygiene products. It has really added valuable extra assistance that we are able to provide and share with our community. It is really moving to see that clients are able to meet their basic needs with access to essential items such as pads that they need for themselves or their other menstruating members of their family. Prior to the partnership with Simply the basics having these items regularly was not accessible.
